A good friend recently introduced us to the very new Brighton based band Palace and we immediately feel in love with their bluesy throwback soul.

The find couldn’t come at a better time with those long summer evenings fast approaching.

We don’t know much else yet but we know you’ll be equally hypnotised.

This week Welsh beat giant Metabeats graces us with our Friday guest mix.

We first heard of the Cardiff native and UK legend back in 2007 with his debut album Metaphysical which has since gone on to become a UK hip hop classic. He has also gone on to produce some of the best hip hop coming out the UK, and as one half of the electronic giants Darkhouse Family.

2013 see’s the release of his long awaited second album Caviar Crackle, which features the likes of Action Bronson, Oddisee & Quelle to name but a few.

For his influence mix, Metabeats has gathered an immense selection of tracks which were sampled by some of hip hop’s most famous tracks. See how many you can recognise.

“For this mix I wanted to have a bit of a geek out and play a bunch of samples, I’m sure you will no a fair few of these and how these tracks sound once chopped up with one of your favourite emcees on. Mmoths or Jack Colleron as he’s known to his mum has had an incredible coming of age. At 16 he dropped his stunning self-titled debut EP to a frenzy of well deserved praise.
Beautiful tracks like ‘Heart’ and ‘Summer’, both which featured vocals from Superhumanoids and Keep Shelly In Athen, aided the release in its ambient textures and ability to connect with people in a profound way.

Now at still just the tender age of 19 Jack is back with the highly anticipated EP number two— Diaries via SQE.
It was given its name after a series of photographs taken by multitalented producer, a keen photographer before he was a musician, on the road in America. The cover above is taken by him too.

The EP itself is nothing short of breathtaking. Seamlessly beginning where the first EP left off without even the slightest of hints he had school life to deal with.
Consisting of 6 brand new tracks the stand outs for us are the features from Young & Sick and the wonderful Holly Miranda.

SIN COS TAN is the new project from Jori Hulkkonen and VILLA NAH’s Juho Paalosmaa. They made their live debut at Helsinki’s Flow Festival this summer.

‘Trust’ preaches the bands ideal to be “a synthesized duo of great promise, broken dreams, and long nights.” They are working towards a debut apparently dropping very soon.

For a few weeks over summer, Kendrick Lamar and Lady Gaga had us all waiting for a surprising collaboration, one that would appear on Lamer’s highly anticipated album good kid, m.A.A.d city.

At first rumours said it was ‘Partynauseous’ but later it was revealed that another record ‘Bitch, Don’t Kill My Vibe’ was on the cards for the Compton rapper’s debut.

Now Beatnik are probably the last people to support anything with Lady Gaga in it, but the synergy here is too tight to ignore.

Unfortunately either track never made it to release with both parties blaming managerial differences.
But us being our cynical selves think it was always planned play out this way and hence generating more clout for the track when it was recently leaked on Twitter.

Either way the demo is a super dope track.

The video to demo was filmed in Rio, and backstage in Colombia.
