First Impressions is the debut album from The Robert Digweed Collective.

It offers some fresh new ideas to Jazz from a generation of new blood.

These arrangements of distinctly recognisable Jazz standards have been removed from their creative origins and stylised with a Jazz-Funk Fusion aesthetic.

Check out the remix project Second Chances with the likes of Herma Puma, Handbook and Debian Blak to name a few.

After their stunning debut Crooks & Lovers in 2010, the anticipation can not be measured for Mount Kimbies follow up Cold Spring Fault Less Youth.

Influenced according to the duo by being on tour for two years straight it has a bigger and more free sound than their previous records. It also contains features which is a new direction for the guys.

Stream the 11 track gem over at NPR.

Here’s on of our favourites from the release—’You Took Your Time’ featuring the crooning rapping of UK vocalist King Krule.

Mayer Hawthorne and Jessie Ware teaming up is enough to turn any head.

Wonderfully connecting both sides of the pond.

A Thievery Corporation & Tycho collaborative EP is more then enough reason to press play.

An arresting release. Lets hope for more.

Released via Ghostly.

Young Fathers is an alternative hip hop group based in Edinburgh. In 2008 they recorded their first album—Inconceivable Child… Conceived, but it wasn’t untill three years later when they dropped the the percussively lush and darkly intoxicating mixtape Tape One as a free download and limited edition cassette that this psychedelic hip hop boy band really started to turn serious heads.

NME dubbed the Scottish trio “locked somewhere between De La Soul and 3T, but re-imagined for the hipster generation” and others have said they “remind you of the sweet Lofi-Street-Sound of a nice old Ghetto-Blaster”

‘I Heard’ is taken from their Tape Two dropping June 11 via Anticon.

‘Faithless’ follows on from where ‘My Love’, awash with emotion, left us.

It’s the second single from their highly awaited debut album Fires In the Park dropping June 24th via Audio Doughnuts.

There is talk of a Zed Bias remix in the works too.

FIY described things best: ‘How Benin City have got so far without going stratospheric is beyond us’.

We wholeheartedly agree.

With their stunning self-titled debut album released via Destroy All Records, Ikestra have fast become one of the most exciting bands of 2013 and a group of talented individuals we are set to champion to our dying days.

This 7-piece from Leeds mix a splendid and generous mixture of funk, soul, reggae influences with a strong dose of worldly touches producing vibrant and energetic music, brimming with bright sunshine and vibrant flavours.

And if the release has warmed your soul just wait ’til you see them play live.

It’s hard to really pin point a favourite from the 6-track strong release, but if pushed the infectious tiggling electric guitar and percussion in ‘Sprinter’ is hard to beat.

Ikestra are Sam Bell (Percussion), Sam Gardner (Drums), Henry Guy (Bass), Joe Harris (Guitar), Tom Henry (Keys), Craig Scott (Guitar) and Anna Stott (Vocals).
