Paper Tiger, the exciting 7-piece collective from Leeds, are next to take part in our ‘Guest Mix Series’.

Charting their vast and varied musical influences, the mix remains super chilled while boosting a ridiculous tracklist of past and present beauties across numerous genres— just the way we like it at Beatnik.

One of the best mixes we’ve had in the series, Here’s what the group said about the experience:
“Having never compiled a proper ‘influences’ mix before, we definitely underestimated the magnitude of this task: how do you squeeze a lifetime’s worth of incredible and inspiring music into an hour, and not have it just sound like a complete mess? After a while we gave up trying to be comprehensive, and made sure that the mix had a proper narrative structure. It opens with one of the first musical ideas we ever committed to tape, and takes in a wealth of music, old and (relatively) new, that has inspired and amazed us for various reasons. All of the artists named below have incredible bodies of work that have influenced us greatly, and shaped our ideas about music and the world in general. We could talk about them and why they’re all great forever, but maybe you should just listen and find out for yourself. Hopefully you can join the dots between these things and get a rough idea of where we’re coming from musically. Enjoy.”
