Newcomer Debian Blak isn’t exactly new. Still the drummer of super energetic and loud East Park Reggae Collective, he has also branched out on his own to explore his electronic itch.
After his promising Hint of Menace EP, a project that explores glitch, dubstep and abstract rhythms with live sounds, his new EP entitled Hawks and Spies sees a change in direction. Boasting a heavy 2step and contemporary electronic voice its a release that hits all the right spots.
‘Hawks and Spies’ is also the name for first single from the EP. Beautifully mellow, it starts with dreamy steel sounds and an addictive bubbling beat, before featuring the soulful harmonies of Neo Joshua, a magnificent new talent in her own right and once part of Shlomo’s Beatbox Orchestra.
