UK garage outfit Artful Dodger where heroes when we’re struggling with puberty. Their classic album All About the Stragglers was a constant soundtrack at underage house parties with the turn of the new millennium n the Capital all about the sounds of 2step garage and baseline culture.
So get our excitement when we hear that one half of the conquering duo, Mark Hill, is returning to the forefront under the chopped alias – Artful. With four Ivor Novello awards, a number one album, two number one singles and over 10 million records sales worldwide to his name and having introduced the world to the likes of Craig David and Corinne Bailey-Rae it was about time he came back around.
His solo debut single ‘Could it Be The Basline’ just dropped. Though cunningly current and pretty safe, it’s still a bubbling track we’re enjoying with hints of goodness from those nostalgic days to want to shake a leg too.
