Good things come to those who wait. Since misplacing a copy of DJ Spinbad’s compilation mix for Ecko Unltd. and Lyricist Lounge a few years back, we’ve been searching frantically for the disc at Beatnik.
The 2001 release Underground Airplay Vol. 1 has either been out of stock or out of sight, we had little hope in finding the 31-track strong underground hip-hop compilation that captured the essence of New York and the rest of the US in the early noughties.

Glancing over the tracks highlight what used to be some favourites: Track 7 (Jane Doe’s great metaphorical rhymes), track 13 (Masta Ace slaughtering Boogieman), track 15 (what a flute!!) and track 21 (nice, crew-based hip-hop).
